Zhai-Shan Tunnel in Gu-Gang Village, JinCheng Township, Kinmen County, is an underground dual-purpose (land-and-water) military tunnel dug in the late WWII period for small-boat resupply runs. The total length is about 457 metres, comprising a 6-metre-wide by 3.5-metre-tall land passage and an A-shaped water passage 11.5 metres wide and 8 metres tall, with capacity for up to 42 small boats. Inside, wartime weapons displays and a 'Wu-Wang-Zai-Ju' (never forget you're at Chu) stone inscription preserve the era's history. The air-conditioned coolness makes it perfect even on rainy days, entry is free throughout, and basic facilities like parking and restrooms are available. One of Kinmen's most iconic historical stops and a top summer escape - great for families and photographers.

JinCheng Old Street in Kinmen County's JinCheng Township is a century-old street block that has kept its historic fabric intact. The road is defined by red-brick arcades and Nan-Yang-style five-foot-way (wu-jiao-ji) architecture, with Min-Nan homesteads, Baroque Yang-Lou mansions and wartime relics layered along it, all soaked in local cultural atmosphere. Mornings bring Cantonese congee and street snacks; afternoons carry the clang of cleaver-on-knife from the famous Kinmen cleaver shops; evenings fill with temple-procession gongs and drums. JinCheng Station is within walking distance and underground as well as street-level parking lots are nearby, making it easy whether by car or bus. A perfect spot for a family stroll to feel Kinmen's history and everyday life.

The Jin-Shui School Exhibition Hall (the former Jin-Shui Elementary School) sits at No. 47, Qian-Shui-Tou, Jin-Shui Li, JinCheng Township, Kinmen - a historic school building that blends a Western Yang-Lou with traditional red-brick columns. Inside, the displays trace the school's educational history and the overseas-Chinese heritage of the village. The building itself, in a red-and-white retro palette with circular red-brick columns symbolising 'focus', has turned the site into an Instagram-favourite photo spot. Six guided tours run daily; a visit takes about half an hour. Pair it with a two- to three-hour wander through Shui-Tou Settlement and neighbouring landmarks like De-Yue Tower and the Huang Ting-Can Three-Courtyard Mansion.

Golden Lake Hotel in Kinmen's Jinhu Township is set against Tai-Wu Mountain and beside Tai-Hu Lake, blessed with sweeping lake views and roomy accommodations. Visitors can wander, take photos, and join free-flow self-guided visits, though certain special exhibitions or paid tasting events may carry a charge. The spacious, family-friendly setting makes it a top base for understanding Kinmen's drinking culture and admiring the surrounding seascape.

Chen Jing-Lan Yang-Lou in Jinhu Township, Kinmen is the largest and best-preserved Western Yang-Lou mansion on the island, built in 1921 by Singapore-based overseas-Chinese merchant Chen Jing-Lan. The exterior is striking white and imposing, with seven main arches framing the facade and roughly fifty arches across the building. Inside, a second-floor sea-view cafe and exhibition area are open to the public free of charge. The mansion has lived many lives - military hospital, school, soldiers' recreation centre - and today stands as a heritage site showcasing Kinmen's overseas-Chinese history and Yang-Lou architecture. A great match for families, summer cooling-off and four-legged friends, and a popular photo stop.
