Housed in the 1915 former Keelung branch of Japan's Nippon Yusen shipping line, this museum narrates the port city's maritime soul through exhibits on ship construction, navigation know-how, and the daily lives of local seafarers. Visitors can try ship-handling simulators and join the Little Seafarer family program. Admission is free, with two hours recommended to soak in the guided tours and interactive zones.

A natural sea-carved grotto beside Xiandongyan, the 30-meter Buddha Hand Cave was once a Japanese-era air-raid shelter and later a bat roost. Today it is softly lit and free to enter round the clock, revealing palm-shaped rock veins and carved Buddha figures that give the cave its name. Pair it with a buddy for the damp, slightly eerie interior, and visit before 6 p.m. while the lights are still on.

Once a landfill, Badouzi Chaojing Park has been reborn as a wide coastal meadow with cycling and walking paths that frame Jiufen's hilltown silhouette across the bay. Families and couples love its nautilus-shell slide, flying-broomstick photo spots, AR dinosaur zone, and the adjoining tidal-pool experience at the Chaojing Intelligent Ocean Museum, making it one of Keelung's most check-in-friendly free attractions.

Built in 2006 on the Hutzushan trail, this free overlook is anchored by a giant KEELUNG sculpture overlooking the harbor. Daytime frames the working port in full swing, while after dark the letters light up with running text for a romantic night view. Reachable in about five minutes on foot from the Keelung Bluebird parking lot, the park also offers lover's benches for laid-back portside lounging.

Unveiled in late 2023, the 21-story Keelung Tower is shaped like a port crane and ships visitors up to an observation deck via elevator, with an 87-meter sky bridge delivering 360-degree views over the city, harbor and sea. Below, it links to the Hope Hill children's playground and the Japanese-era Xin-er air-raid shelter, so families can mix panorama, play and history in one visit. Admission is currently free.

Standing on the Wanrendui headland at the west side of Keelung Harbor since 1900, this historic lighthouse was rebuilt in reinforced concrete in 1962. The trail in is gentle and free, opening to a 180- to 270-degree seascape sweeping toward Keelung Islet and the working container docks. The route can be extended to the adjacent Baimihuo Battery for a half-day of coastal photography.
