The Small Triumphs We'll Still Debate

To us five years from now. Remember when we bet this trip would be a disaster? We almost were, until Dahu's hills softened us.

The Small Triumphs We'll Still Debate

The Parking Paradox. We fought over who was the better driver, only to find the spots at Caimei Hotel were so cavernous we could have parked a small bus. It felt like a rare luxury of space, the wide concrete reflecting a sense of ease we hadn't felt all day.

The Pillow War. A high-stakes political battle over soft versus firm foam. I can still hear the indignant huff of your breath as you claimed the "cloud" pillow, treating a hotel amenity like a prized heirloom while I settled for the rigid one.

The Eighth-Floor Horizon. Looking over Dahu's patchwork fields, the September air had a refrigerated crispness. It smelled of damp earth and distant strawberries, a sharp, cool wake-up call that made the world feel wide and reachable.

The Wonton Epiphany. At Jiang Ji Jiu Ji, that first bite of a wonton cut through our biking exhaustion. Salt-streaked and grumpy, we fell silent as the savory warmth acted as a truce, the steam fogging up our tired eyes.

When the Time Capsule Opens

I suspect we'll forget the route, but I'll remember the steam of the deep bathtub at Caimei Hotel stripping away the September chill. The room became a fortress of quiet, where the scent of fresh linens turned our friction into a shared silence.

  • Try the wontons and crystal dumplings for a true taste of Miaoli.
