The Taxi Museum in Suao, Yilan is Taiwan's—and likely the world's—first private museum dedicated to taxis. Inside, antique taxis from around the world are on display alongside models and taxi-related merchandise, plus family-friendly interactive facilities like an all-yellow carousel and bumper cars. The admission ticket can be exchanged for a drink and offsets spending inside. Hours are 10 AM to 5 PM; adult tickets are NT$200, seniors and children 3 and up NT$150, children under 3 free, with annual passes available. A good choice for rainy-day indoor family fun and a brush with taxi history.

Toucheng Leisure Farm in Toucheng, Yilan covers about 120 hectares and blends satoyama nature with sustainable farming, offering family experiences like herb gathering, animal observation, DIY crafts and environmental education. Duck Story House in Wujie Township, Yilan was originally the Xie Ji duck farm, converted in 2014 (Minguo 103) into an educational and leisure tourist farm. The grounds are spacious with parking, well-suited for a half-day family visit. Visitors can get up close to feed ducks, hold ducklings, and join interactive activities like red-soil duck egg DIY, salted duck egg making and hand-made pizza. Inside, the space is divided into duck and duck-egg display, farm products, DIY experiences, an outdoor interaction area and a food zone; the NT$100 ticket offsets NT$50 of in-park spending. Combining ecological education with local culture, it's a must-visit, affordable family destination in Wujie.

Huang Juren House is the only preserved juren (provincial graduate) residence in Yilan, built in the third year of the Guangxu reign (1877) during the Qing dynasty. Originally on an alley off Xinmin Road in Yilan City, it faced demolition in 1996 due to urban planning and was reassembled inside the National Center for Traditional Arts (Traditional Arts Park) in 2001. The compound is a classic Min-nan style san-he-yuan courtyard; the main gate plaque reads 'Wen Kui' (Champion of Letters), and the interior displays period household items and kitchenware, offering a glimpse into 19th-century Yilan domestic life. As one of the core buildings of the Traditional Arts Center, the house is both a historical site and a great spot for family and cultural experiences, suited for photos, learning about traditional architecture and joining DIY workshops.

Jiuliaoxi Geba Waterfall is the endpoint of a roughly 4-kilometer natural trail inside the Jiuliaoxi Ecological Park in Lunpi Village, Datong Township, Yilan. The trail splits into a roughly 2.2 km front section and a 1.8 km back section, mostly flat with cement surface, suited to families and casual hikers. The falls are about 15 meters tall with abundant flow and a wonderfully cool retreat in summer. The route is shaded by dense forest with a babbling stream, and rich ecology can be spotted along the way. The trail is free to enter, reachable mainly by car via the Yilan interchange of Freeway 5 and then Provincial Highway 7 to Datong.

Wufengqi Waterfall in Jiaosi Township, Yilan is a natural wonder counted among the Eight Views of Lanyang. The trail takes about 10-20 minutes to walk, with gentle grades, making it suitable for families and beginner hikers. The waterfall has three tiers—upper, middle and lower—topping out at roughly 20 meters; behind it stand five sharp peaks that resemble flags arranged in a line, creating a distinctive silhouette. Viewing pavilions and rest shelters line the path, offering doses of negative ions and cool mist, making it a summer cooling favorite. Open daily 08:00-17:00, with closures on rainy days or when typhoon warnings are issued.
