Daping Red Bridge in Longtan, Taoyuan, is a century-old red brick arch bridge built in 1923, also known as the Sticky Rice Bridge. The clear stream beneath it forms natural shallow pools, making it a popular summer spot for wading, family outings, and cooling off. Pavilions and walking trails line the riverbank, connecting to the Sanhang Bicycle Trail and Sanhang Nature Eco Park. Qianceng Waterfall is within walking distance, and free parking is available, making it ideal for photography, strolls, and relaxed creek play.

Longtan Da-chi (Longtan Great Pond) in Longtan, Taoyuan, is a lakeside park with free admission. Nankan River Number One Riverside Park in Taoyuan District covers a spacious area with about 900 meters of play routes, including free jumping-cloud trampolines, sandpits, wading pools, a forest adventure zone, and multifunctional climbing equipment for all-age family fun. Wide lawns, riverside pavilions, and trails make it ideal for cycling, kite flying, and picnics. Clean family restrooms with diaper-changing stations are provided. Taman Mountain in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, sits at about 2,130 meters near Baling Village on the border with New Taipei City. The alpine trail is celebrated for its ancient sacred trees, fallen-log single-log bridges, and dense cypress and fir forests, often described as a magical woodland. The path mostly follows natural earth laced with tree roots, with wooden boardwalks and rope aids on steeper sections, best suited to travelers with basic hiking gear. The trailhead has a large water tower and limited free parking; no public transit serves it, so driving or joining a guided tour is recommended. Admission is free, and the best time to visit is in summer or after rain when mist coils through the trees, creating dreamlike interplays of light and shadow.

Xiaowulai Scenic Area in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, nestles in the mountain forests along both banks of the Yunei Stream, featuring a transparent glass skywalk, magnificent waterfalls, and a free Yunei Stream warm-spring wading area. Well-planned trails with wooden boardwalks and barrier-free ramps suit family outings, and about 40 parking spaces are available. Taoyuan Bus route 5105 stops at Xiaowulai Station. Summer visitors can wade in designated safe zones with lifeguards on duty, and admission is around NT$50. Combining natural landscapes and leisure facilities, it is an ideal destination for escaping the heat, family trips, and photography.

Dongman Trail in Taoyuan connects Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area with Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area. The route spans about 7 kilometers, rising from 870 to 1,130 meters in elevation. Most of the path follows historic logging tramways and wooden sled roads, winding past Machilus-Castanopsis forests, cedar plantations, and small waterfall streams. Summer temperatures are refreshingly cool, ideal for beating the heat. Rated moderate, the trail suits medium-to-long distance hikers and is equipped with parking, a visitor center, and simple rest areas. Along the way, hikers can view Beichatian Mountain and saddle landscapes, and continue on to Manyueyuan Waterfall. A pleasant year-round hiking choice in northern Taiwan, it shines brightest in summer as a cool-weather retreat.
