Tai-ping Cloud Ladder in Mei-shan Township, Chiayi County, is Taiwan's highest-altitude observation suspension bridge - about 281 meters long, spanning between Tai-ping Mountain and Gui Mountain. From the bridge, visitors look down on seas of clouds, tea fields, and mountain ranges, often wrapped in thick mist for a magical sky-walk atmosphere. The bridge is quake-resistant and built to withstand strong winds, safe and comfortable, great for summer cool-downs and sightseeing. The Tai-ping Cloud Ladder Service Center sells tickets and offers parking and observation platforms; hours are 09:00-16:30 weekdays, to 17:30 on holidays (closed Wednesdays), full tickets around NT$100. It's not just a viewpoint - it's also a great starting point for Mei-shan Old Street and tea fields.

Tai-xing-yan Trail in Tai-xing Village, Mei-shan Township, Chiayi County, sits at about 850 meters altitude and runs about 650 meters. From the parking lot you reach the observation deck in just 5-10 minutes for tea gardens, primeval forest, and mountain views. The route is gentle, alternating between wooden boardwalk and stone-slab path, suited to families and easy hikers. Along the way are tea gardens, mist-wrapped peaks, and seasonal azaleas; occasionally you can spot endemic birds like the Swinhoe's pheasant. Known as Chiayi's most friendly trail, it's free, has an observation deck right beside the parking lot - a lazy-day spot where you can enjoy scenery the moment you get out of the car.

Sister Ponds in the Alishan National Scenic Area are two alpine lakes about 50 meters apart: Little Sister Pond (about 20 ping) and Big Sister Pond (about 160 ping). Surrounded by dense red cypress forest, the clear emerald water often reflects the cypress trees, especially striking in the thin mist of early morning. The path is gentle and suits elders and young children, passing thousand-year-old cypress trees and mountain views. Bai-shui-hu Shou-dao in Dong-shi, Chiayi, gained fame as a filming location for the movie 'The Lost Romance.' It's not actually a lake or island but a tidal flat formed by land subsidence: at high tide, seawater covers roads and abandoned houses; at low tide, sand and brick huts emerge, creating a unique tidal landscape. Visitors can park along the seawall and enjoy front-row sea views with open-air toilets, photographing romantic sunsets and tidal waves. The blend of natural landscape and abandoned vibe has made it a popular photo check-in spot for travelers who love tidal changes and ruined aesthetics.

Zhu-keng Stream Trail in Rui-feng Village, Mei-shan Township, Chiayi County, is a roughly 3.3-kilometer shaded trail, ideal for summer cool-downs and getting close to nature. The trail has two parking points: West Entrance (Route 162-A at 30K, parking for 8-10 cars) and East Entrance (Route 162-A at 36.5K, fewer spots). The path features multiple suspension bridges and wooden walkways; the most famous sights are the spectacular Long-gong (Dragon Palace) Falls and Sheng-mao-shu (Hair Tree) Falls. The trail is also known as the 'Charcoal-carrying Ancient Trail,' combining history with ecology. Fully renovated in 2023 with complete safety facilities, it suits families, hikers, and travelers looking to soak up forest phytoncides.

Zhu-ci Qingshui Park beside Niu-chou Stream in Chiayi City is a free water-themed park spanning about 12 hectares. The grounds feature a children's wading pool, sky corridor, flower-fairy trail, signature suspension bridge, observation deck, and large whale-shaped climbing play equipment, offering a family-friendly cooling space. The park also provides parking, rest areas, and restrooms, suited to family strolls, water play, and enjoying natural scenery.
