Wan'an Waterfront Park

Wan An Water Park in Wan An Village, Tai Wu Township, Pingtung County is a popular summer retreat tucked in a mountain valley stream at the foot of Da Wu Mountain. The park preserves the natural stream and pairs it with Pai Wan tribal culture, offering clear mountain stream pools where families can wade, watch small fish, and explore the surrounding ecology. There are no man made water attractions, so visitors should bring floatation devices or rent life jackets on site and wear sandals or non slip shoes. Shaded areas are limited, but guests can bring umbrellas or rent sun shades. Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

Shuang Liu National Forest Recreation Area in Shi Zih Township, Pingtung County sits alongside the South Link Highway and is one of southern Taiwan's favorite summer retreats. Inside, a roughly 3.6 kilometer waterfall trail follows the upper reaches of Feng Gang Stream with a gentle grade, multiple rest pavilions, and benches that suit easygoing family walks. The trail ends at Shuang Liu Waterfall, which drops some twenty meters with a curtain of white water, and the streamside is a popular spot to wade in and cool down on summer days. The park offers parking and is reachable by car or by train to Fang Liao followed by a bus transfer. Only light drinks and snacks are sold on site, so visitors should bring their own food and enough water. There are no accommodations inside, but nearby bed and breakfasts and hotels are available. Known for forest bathing, waterfall views, and family friendly stream wading, the area is a great half day or full day trip that blends nature, cool relief, and relaxation.

Bagua Mountain Great Buddha

The Great Buddha of Ba-Gua Mountain in Changhua County stands atop Ba-Gua Mountain and is one of Taiwan's few outdoor great Buddhas, rising 22 metres. The image uses reinforced concrete clad in white cement to render a solemn seated Shakyamuni. Beyond the Buddha, the scenic area offers a skywalk, the Nine-Dragon Pond observation deck, a family interaction zone and a Guanyin stone statue, blending nature and culture. Footpaths wrap around the ridges, perfect for strolling, sightseeing and photography; at dusk the sunset and city lights are spectacular. The whole area is free to enter, ideal for a visit with the whole family.
